Studies on Drought Tolerant and High Yielding Groundnut Varieties in Perambalur District

چکیده
Three varieties of groundnut were used to assess the drought tolerance and high yielding potential. Groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important oil seed crop mainly grown under rainfed situation. Erratic rainfall frequent during growth period, yields are generally low conditions. Drought critical stages crucial for loss in yield varieties. But tolerant genotypes may give better due maintenance physiological responses that triggered drought. On Farm Trials was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hansroever campus, Perambalur district Tamilnadu, India suitable variety terms yield, acceptability adoption potential rabi 2018-19 district, India. viz., Dharani, Co7 TMV 7. The study revealed Dharani recorded higher pod (2402 kg ha-1), number pods plant-1 (26) optimum plant population (26.3 plants m-2) as compared farmers practice. resulted highest shelling percentage (75%), while lowest registered with Gross net returns ` 115324 66593 ha-1, respectively cultivating against 87523 41550 ha-1 check variety. would be a option forrainfed cultivation district.

Breeding high-yielding drought-tolerant rice: genetic variations and conventional and molecular approaches
The increased occurrence and severity of drought stress have led to a high yield decline in rice in recent years in drought-affected areas. Drought research at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) over the past decade has concentrated on direct selection for grain yield under drought. This approach has led to the successful development and release of 17 high-yielding drought-toleran...

120 Journal of Plant Registrations, Vol 2, No. 2, May 2008 Drought stress reduces dry bean seed yield in most production regions worldwide (White and Singh, 1991). The release of pinto bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) germplasm CO46348 (Reg. No. GP-275, PI 651500) will provide plant breeders with drought-tolerant, pinto bean germplasm that takes advantage of a full growing season (95–98 d) and has ...
متن کاملSelection index for identifying high-yielding groundnut genotypes in irrigated and rainfed environments
Selection of high yielding genotypes to be carried over to subsequent selection cycles in a breeding programme can sometimes be accomplished using a suitable index of secondary traits that may be relatively less sensitive to genotype-by-environment interactions than yield. We used the concept of correlated response to selection to measure the relative efficiency of nine selection indices. The r...
متن کاملMeasuring the impacts of adaptation strategies to drought stress: The case of drought tolerant maize varieties
This study measured the impacts of drought tolerant maize varieties (DTMVs) on productivity, welfare, and risk exposure using household and plot-level data from rural Nigeria. The study employed an endogenous switching regression approach to control for both observed and unobserved sources of heterogeneity between adopters and non-adopters. Our results showed that adoption of DTMVs increased ma...
متن کاملDrought-induced Leaf Protein Alterations in Sensitive and Tolerant Wheat Varieties
Wheat plants with a fully developed first leaf were subjected to severe but recoverable water stress. Leaves from drought tolerant (Katya and Zlatitza) and drought sensitive (Sadovo and Miziya) varieties in control, drought and recovery conditions were used for the experiments. The physiological response of drought tolerant varieties did not differ from the one of drought sensitive varieties at...
